It’s not often that one gets the opportunity to see one of the USA’s biggest stoner rock acts in the UK... for free.  As a result, the small turn out for Saviours this evening is all the more disappointing.  However small the crowd, they certainly aren’t lacking in spirit and the atmosphere created by those present more than makes up for the absentees.

Brighton-based sludge band Dopefight open the show.  These guys keep it short and sweet, performing a few heavy tracks from ‘Buds’ then exit the stage as quickly as they came on. Astrohenge have a lot to celebrate this evening, not only are they privileged enough to be supporting Saviours it’s also launch night for their 'II' album.  Psychedelic rock infused with sludge makes for one groovy cocktail of music.  More of this, please!

Focal point of the evening, Saviours are explosive.  It’s unbelievable that a venue so tiny can contain such a mighty sound.  For a genre that is often rather basic, they possess unbridled technical ability and it’s obvious to see that each member’s raw talent has gone into the melting pot that makes them a band.  Bursting with energy and multi-directional riffs these guys are fucking awesome – there are simply no other words to describe it.
