Synthpop duo Method Cell open tonight’s show with a complex layers of synthetic resonance- a creation that this band is well known for. With new album "Curse Of A Modern Age" continuing to attract rave reviews all over Europe, it’s no wonder that the immanent signing with American label WTII Records came so quickly. With ‘Conviction,’’ ‘Believe’ leading to the finale of ‘Drop Dead … and Push’ it is no surprise that they are fast becoming a dancefloor favourite.
British underground, crowd magnet Kommand + Kontrol take the stage over with an uncompromising set using material from new album “Full Frontal Assault” that cement them as an British act that should actually be taken notice of.
Surprizing even the most hardcore of fans, Uberbyte show off their harsher and bassier makeover that causes the stomp factor to go through the roof. With a full stage presence which often challenges the largest of stages, his Sheffield based industrial sound machine is as caustic as ever with high pressured beat leaving its mark on the Islington Academy crowd.
When Supreme Commander Thomas Rainer lead the Nachtmahr army on to the murky Islington Academy stage, the eruption of respect for this harsh EBM powerhouse was something that is rarely paralleled. This bloke has been through the motions, and the result is clearly Rainer’s raison d’etre with a signature sound that is rapidly becoming a staple for electronic musicians the world over. Mixing it up with tubthumpers from across his Nachtmahr back catalogue; El Chupacabra was the obvious choice with the engaging crowd causing an almost tectonic shift with DJ-favourite Katharsis becoming a highlight for most. When Nachtmahr play, it’s a performance that employs enough visual stimuli to make your head explode- If the Imperial Nachtmahr Army were all blokes, then the costume clad element of the show wouldn’t be as enticing but with night’s like this, it is clear that Rainer is going to become one of the most sought after musicians in the electronic music scenes. |
