The Safety Fire: “These shows with Gojira are a really big deal for us.” |

Progressive metallers The Safety Fire will take another huge step in their careers next week when they open the stage for metal goliaths Gojira. The sold-out shows begin on Monday at Sheffield, before moving on to Birmingham and London. Vocalist Sean McWeeney spoke exclusively to SoundShock about the biggest shows in the British band’s six-year history. McWeeney says: “These shows with Gojira are a really big deal for us. We've loved them as a band for years and got to see them last year at Sonisphere. They probably put on the best show of the whole festival and to be given the opportunity to support such an awesome live act is amazing.” And supporting for one of their favourite bands, you can be sure that they’ll be catching as much of the French metallers’ set as possible. McWeeney continues: “I personally love 'Oroborus' among others. It embodies what Gojira do best, being really heavy with a driving groove but with a mix of textures and all contained within a really well-written song. The vocals also have some interesting effects on them and come in with a punch and aggression exactly when they're needed.”
The Safety Fire will open for Gojira on the following dates:
Monday 25th June – Sheffield, Corporation
Tuesday 26th June – Birmingham, O2 Academy 2
Wednesday 27th June – London, Islington O2 Academy
