It's been emotional!
Jason here, checking in one last time from sunny Prestatyn.
Well, that's that for another year. The festival is done & the weary throng are all heading home. Last night went out with a massive bang as headliners Skindred showed once again why they are one of the best live acts out there. After that it was off to keep the party going at various chalet parties. It was at one such party that I was introduced to the frankly lethal Naga Chilli Vodka... GOD DAMN THAT'S HOT!
Thanks Hammerfest... it's been emotional.

Saturday night is party night!
Jason here, once more checking in from Hammerfest IV. OK, this will need to be very short & sweet and the last blog of the day, before alcohol renders them more unreadable than they've already been.
Hell have played a stormer, but after hearing good things about them, Mortad proved to be a real disappointment. Still, the real party of the night is up soon with Skindred and we've got metal a-plenty with Amon Amarth and Criminal. Let's do this!

Seagulls!
Earlier this morning our chalet was attacked by a giant seagull & 20 minutes later we were in a pub listening to noise mongers Oaf play a song called Fuck Off Seagull. Prophetic writings or just a punked up quirk of fate? You decide.

We're in the evening of day 2 now and Guinness seems to be the order of the day (well, it's St. Patrick's day innit) while the likes of Red Mist Destruction, Sworn Amongst & London bruisers Dripback bring the heavy. Amon Amarth have arrived on site and frontman Johan has informed me that they are ready to lay waste to the main stage later tonight. Praise Odin!

Jason here again. It's the morning after the night before of a cracking day 1 at Hammerfest and by the looks of the zombie hoards shuffling around Pontins this morning, a good time was had by all. Yesterdays highlights must be the amazing sets by Paradise Lost & Chimaira and an monster of a set from Anthrax. Lawnmower Deth rounded the night out quite nicely and yes, the Robototron was in full effect with Evil Scarecrow. Robototron!
Today looks to be another corker with the likes of Oaf and Dripback bringing the noise in the Queen Vic pub for starters and then onto the main event tonight with Hell, Amon Amarth, the mighty Skindred and the criminally underrated (pun intended) death come thrash stalwarts Criminal closing out the main stage.
But first, a bacon roll and some Red Bull please. I shall be back later for more goings on from this years Hammer(ed)fest.

Jason here again. Ok, it's time for the party to turn up a notch here at Hammerfest. Chimaira are playing to an absolutely rammed out crowd at the main stage and later we have the mighty Anthrax, Paradise Lost and not forgetting Lawnmower Deth. I've been told by a reliable source that after midnight tonight the place to be is with Evil Scarecrow doing the Robototron. Sounds... interesting. See you in the pit!

Sun, beer & metal.
The beers are flowing nicely here at Hammerfest now and over at a rammed out Queen Vic pub, Trucker Diablo have laid down a healthy slab of their honest to goodness bluesy biker rock. Italians Arthemis have opened up proceedings on the second stage & the sun is even shining! I've just managed to grab a quick word with Scottish mob Achren & despite clashing in part with Anthrax, they're buzzed for their set tonight. If you're here make sure you catch much of their set as possible if you can. Right, I'm off for sausage in batter & a drink. Good times!

Jason here. It's day 1 proper of Hammerfest & after last nights pre-fest shindig, there are a lot of decidedly fragile looking people shuffling around Prestatyn this morning. Still, it's nothing that a good fry-up, more beer & some damn fine metal in the shape of the likes of Anthrax, Paradise Lost & Chimaira won't sort out. Not much else to tell at the moment (not that I can publish on here anyway), but I'll be back throughout the weekend to report on the latest news from the event so keep checking back.
