It seems like 1981 is the new 1987! Newly signed to the already retro-heavy Earache roster of new acts, Cauldron are here to fly the flag for British metal...from Canada, ahem.

Now, it's too easy to assume that Earache have snapped themselves yet another retro act just for the sake of current trends, filling another niche in the heavy metal market. However, this holds much more substance than many of the 1980's obsessed bands around today, make no mistake, this is a quality metal album!

Opening with the rowdy "Young and Hungry", Cauldron silence any critics-in-waiting, and continue to do so across this lovingly late 70's-inspired album. Adding a crisp sound due to Neil Kernon's (Queensryche, Dokken) mixing skills, 'Chained to the Nite' recalls the spirit of NWOBHM with its gritty approach and its steadfast loyalty to good song-writing and catchy riffs.

Jason Decay's vocals are spot on for this style of none-so-true heavy metal, and it's refreshing to hear singers, who actually sing! Packed with headbangs and singalongs this is a must for all fans of 'real' heavy metal.
