General Surgery started out as a Carcass cover band, but have since moved away from the rehashed (though still enjoyable) sound of said band, and gone for the more modern death metal approach. Having been 3 years since the last album, it looks like the guys have risen from the dead and offered this gory new slice of death metal meat, and it's worth the wait. This is some of the bands best material yet for sure, blending a nice mix of old school riffs with the new school production that really suits this decade. Nothing fancy here! Just straight up groovy gore-obsessed death metal.

After all the witty song titles and tongue and cheek humour present all over General Surgery's career, this is a quality album with some serious songs, from the blink-and-you'll-miss-it opener 'Necronomics' to closer 'Deadhouse' this album slices fleshy chunks from all its competitors.

Older General Surgery material felt a bit too much in the shadow of Carcass' career, ‘Corpus...’ isn't so much rooted in the Liverpudlians sound, but more similar to a late nineties early naughties death metal sound. Fans of retro-death metal, check this one out, you won't be disappointed.
