SATAN'S HOST – CELEBRATION FOR THE LOVE OF SATAN (5)
The prehistoric minstrels of the infernal regions, Satan's Host round up their 25th anniversary with their career spanning 'hits' compilation – 'Celebration For the Love of Satan'. Evil impends.
It's always nice to see a band survive to see their quarter century, even if Satan's Host in particular, have a rather glaring gap in their recording history. Nevertheless, they've certainly worked hard enough over the last decade to warrant this release – and with it – the acknowledgement of their contributions to metal as a genre.
Cherry-picking the better tracks from their career '… Love Of Satan' succeeds as well as one would expect, but really only serves as a reminder of what a one trick pony SH are. Two new tracks are on offer here but it's really just more of the same - clumsy riffs accompanied by wailing vocals singing about demons, brimstone or something evil and scary like that. Even true die-hard fans will struggle to get much enjoyment here, while the rest of us are probably better off avoiding altogether.
