BLUT AUS NORD – 777 THE DESANCTIFICATION (9)
This is the second release of 2011 for Blut Aus Nord, not to be confused with ‘777 - Sect(s)’ released earlier this year. This is a continuation of that release in both title and music.
Where as this ‘777’ has all the essence of the band’s sound, there is a much heavier ambient industrial overtone than previously presented. In fact some of the tracks mix the electronic sounds in more than anything Blut Aus Nord have done before. But it works excellently and it's mainly due to the inspired musicianship and uniqueness of this band.
One of the main qualities are the almost hypnotic riffs that seem to bring out the bleakest emotions humanly possible. In fact it’s quite easy to be drawn into an almost trance-like state listening to this! The timings are very disjointed and unpredictable, but this works well as it gives off a very unsettling vibe, especially during ‘Epitome X’, which borders on the edges of insanity.
Hopefully, it won’t be long until the next release. As this is only the second part of the ‘777’ trilogy, it will be interesting to be able to hear all three concurrently at some point to really see how it all ties in together.
