Climbing the ranks of the powernoise world, ‘This is Why…’ epitomises the energy that is harboured in it’s Industrial, Techno, Hardcore and IDM stem cells and exposes them to reveal a raw and edgy fixation of foot-tapping strikes with an almost viscous blending of intense electronic genres.
Making short work of the challenge that lay before them and pooling through enough influences that could inspire even the laziest of artist, Alter der Ruine make a commotion that takes the scenic route to arrive at its dark and at times, macabre destination.
Obviously opting for consistency as opposed to relying on 2 or 3 palpable floor-fillers, This is Why… flows from the first to the last second, and keeps you suitably pummelled for the entirety it its run time. Even with the dense and appropriately named ‘Demon Missile’ and after taking a morbid and Virus-Child type turn with ‘Why Machines Cry,’ it is not the barbed IDM album which will catch the attention of the worthwhile noise loving masses, but it is just thorny enough for the club DJs to take a compulsive and more than innate interest.
