Fun, fast and furious are the words to fully describe the new Enforcer album, 'Diamonds'. As two years have passed since their debut 'Into the Night', the Swedish 5-piece have undoubtedly shredded their fingers to the bone in aid of even greater achievement. Diverting away from their previous overall speed metal focus, spread out song structures and natural occurrences are now ongoing. With a more relaxed pace onboard, instrument individuality has been allowed to shine through – with in particular reference to the pulsating bass guitar and sensibly formulated axe riffs giving leeway for more fitting vocal patterns. Most notable on such songs as ‘Katana’, ‘Midnight Vice’ and ‘Nightmares’, a modern day comparison to Iron Maiden’s self-titled and ‘Killers’ albums can be clearly compared.
Enforcer have proven with ‘Diamonds’ that heavy metal is timeless and certainly give hope in reinventing the NWOBHM sound. If only they were British, this could quite possibly be the beginning of the NEWEST Wave of British Heavy Metal.
