Brit band The More I See are a strange mix of fellows and sounds. Having undergone several line-up changes since their formation in 2002, they now consist of original member Gizz Butt (former The Prodigy and punk-metal band English Dogs) and four youngsters, including sixteen-year-old drummer Harri Wright. New album, ‘Tread The Darker Path’ is all about thrash and aggression.

‘Veiled By Greed’ rolls out the band’s prerogative: to make chugging thrash with angry vocals and dynamic solos. The chorus has a good hook, its force strengthened by blast beats. The southern American accent of the main riff for ‘The Unholy Feast’, spiced with the occasional pinch harmonic, gives the album some rock soul often missing on thrash records. ‘Decadence Within’ has a sinister edge to its deeply toned chorus and there is some more impressive fret work here, too.

‘Tread The Darker Path’ has plenty of solid riffs, harsh drums and very impressive vocals from frontman Peter Ellis. The talent of the youngsters is obvious and the production gives it a well-rounded yet gritty sound. Although samey in places, ‘Tread The Darker Path’ is an album that could take The More I See on to a much larger world stage.
