Breaking The Waves

This weeks feature on

Band:
Entro-P

Location:
Guildford, UK

Aside from the hyper-hyped Hundred Reasons (who), the Hampshire/Surrey borders haven’t really produced much of note these last twenty years. Jane Austin might well have written a few nice books, but metal-wise, she was no Mastadon. She wasn’t even an Annotations of an Autopsy. But when Soundshock BtW favourites Agonyst are fellow Fenlanders, you got to wonder what in the holy name of Dio is going on.

EnTro-P is what’s going on, that’s what. ‘Deeper The Hole’ was released last year, and the fearsome foursome of Jake Archer (bass/vocals), Sean Mamo (drums) Curt Platt & Alex Sampson (guitars) have crafted an album that sees them as likely to do the crabwalk as Tony Benn is likely to goosestep. Rather than all this chug-chug bollocks you hear from dumpcore losers like Attack! Attack!, EnTro-P are blisteringly technical metal with an accessible sheen. “We have loads of different bands that we look up to and not only just metal bands” says Curt. “Some of main bands are the likes of Tool, The Faceless, Opeth, Mastodon and SikTh. We tend to listen to bands with a more dimensional sound who experiment with different textures and time signatures in their songs.”

It’s not just on record EnTro-P will take your face off. They pride themselves on being a live band through and through. The band put as much energy into their live performances as they can; “Going to a gig and really being taken back by a band is great and we want to do that every time” Curt says. And for a band and “being a band that really does the album justice live is a priority”, you can be sure that this won’t be the last of EnTro-P you’ll be seeing or hearing in 2012.

EnTro-P will be playing live at the following dates. If the tracks above have whetted your appetite, and you can’t get to the shows, you can also get ‘Deeper The Hole’ from Amazon and iTunes.
